"Leaf Blade", attack!
Grovyle, easily one of my favorite Hoenn region pokémon. Normally I favor Fire-types, but Emerald's Torchic didn't impress me, so I picked Treecko instead.
And what a deal -- how do I always manage to choose the fastest starter? Grovyle (and its evolved form, Sceptile) have Speed ratings that even an Electric-type pokémon would be proud of -- few other Grass-type pokémon can even come close.
Experiment #3 in mixing crayon with colored pencil shading. Now if only I could agree on which technique to use . . . apparently I need to exploit the fact that colored pencils are translucent shading, and I should start with the darkest shades first and layer lighter colors on top. Crayons and pencils of the same color complement each other quite well, especially for this brand of 'em.
Of course, I can't forget the Microns. Those are the new love....
And let nobody tell you that close-up perspectives are easy -- THEY AREN'T. But I somehow managed to get a satisfactory first sketch on this paper, and was able to start coloring within the hour.
Total time? About four hours.
